A Guide To LinkedIn Message Automation Tools

If you aren’t leveraging LinkedIn for LinkedIn Lead Generation, then you’re missing out. LinkedIn is one of the most powerful platforms to use for business and statistics show that 78% of users that use the network for prospecting outsell peers who don’t use social media. LinkedIn themselves also share impressive social selling statistics:

– Social selling leaders create 45% more opportunities

– Social selling leaders are 51% more likely to reach quota.

Now,  those are figures that you can’t ignore, but what exactly does it take to become a ‘Social Selling Leader’? You no doubt have many things to juggle on a daily basis and an ever growing list of tasks to do, and the prospect of consistently staying active on LinkedIn can be challenging.

This is where LinkedIn automation tools can help. They can allow you save time on repetitive tasks, giving you the freedom to work on other things and can also lead to some seriously good results.

What We Look For: The Key Factors

It is however imperative that you choose the right tool, and the key things to consider when picking an automation tool are:

Does It Work?

This one goes with out saying. Finding a good-looking tool is great, but it’s meaningless if it fails to perform the promised functions. Before committing to a subscription, check to see whether the tool is compatible with the most recent LinkedIn interface.

Can The Tool Perform Multiple Useful Tasks?

Although it may be easy to generate a lot of engagement and interest around your product or service on LinkedIn simply by manually messaging prospects, it’s a big time suck. If you want to scale, an automation tool with multiple functions is key to success. After all the more the tool can do, the less you have to do.

Is It Cloud Based?

Cloud-based tools will work around the clock so you don’t have to. Whether your device is on or off, whether you have an internet connection or not, cloud-based software means that you can get busy with other things and leave the tool to work its magic.

Does It Simulate Natural Behaviour?

A tool that uses sophisticated algorithms to mimic human behaviour is essential in minimising the risk of profile suspension. Always check to see if the software executes functions at a natural pace instead of aggressively interacting in a robotic manner.

IP Address

This point goes hand-in-hand with simulating natural behaviour. In order for activity to look as natural as possible, it’s best for any tool that you’re looking to implement to use dedicated local proxies. If the tool doesn’t use proxies or the proxy isn’t local, it will look as if all activity is coming from one place that is  different to your own device location. This can wreak havoc and suspicious activity will be detected, in turn increasing the risk of profile suspension. If you’re unsure on whether the tool you’re interested in uses proxies, it’s best to send the tool creators an email to ask.

Here we’ll  be looking into five tried and tested LinkedIn automation tools and how they stack up against the key factors.

The Tools

LinkedProspect

LinkedProspectScreenGrab

Send automated personalised connection requests to fresh prospects and then let the tool auto-respond to new connections 24 hours later with a message of your choice. LinkedProspect

GPZ

GPZScreenGrab

GPZ LinkedIn Automation software is a Chrome extension that lets you send personalised connection requests which can be an effective way of increasing exposure of new products, services and offers which ultimately increases the chances of lead generation. While this tool does have the capabilities to send custom follow-up messages to new connections, this feature has a tendency to be unreliable with many bugs hindering the performance.

Pros

Useful for building a new network by sending personalised connection requests to prospects of your choice

Cons

Follow up message capability can be unreliable.

Linkedeep

LinkedeepScreenGrab

Update: Due to a request from LinkedIn, Linkedeep is no longer accepting new clients.

Linkedeep is brilliant for sending mass messages to connections so that you can open up a dialogue. It also allows you to remove connections from your selected list that you would not like to message meaning that you are in full control. This cloud-based tool however is not so effective in building a new network. Automated connection requests can fail to send and selecting a pool of prospects can be a tricky task due to a lack of selection filters.

Pros

Control which of your connections receive automated messages

Cons

Invitation requests to new connections can fail to send

Linkedomata

LinkedomataScreenGrab

Windows application Linkedomata allows you to reach out to your targeted prospects quickly and efficiently. By inputting an exported list of LinkedIn profile URLs, you can send these prospects personalised messages. A great feature of this tool is the Automated LinkedIn Profile Visit capability . Linkedomata will visit the profile of users of your choice – a strategy that can help you to gain better visibility.

This tool does however require a more ‘hands-on’ approach than others due to no sophisticated algorithms to mimic human behaviour. It’s recommend that you use Linkedomata within the specified limits stated on their FAQ page.

Pros

Ability to increase visibility through the Automated Linked Profile Visit function

Cons

No complex algorithms in place to simulate natural and human behaviour.

LinkedEngine

LinkedEngineScreenGrab

Although LinkedEngine has many useful functions such as Message Automation and Group Joining automation, the activity is not cloud based. This is a separate piece of software that opens up in a new window where you can see the mouse move to emulate the functions being performed on your profile. While displaying the activity in this way looks impressive, it unfortunately compromises on  usability causing unexplained crashes and slow performance.

Pros

Useful and unique automated group-joining function.

Cons

Slow performance and a tendency to crash.
